Graduate Student Researcher Opening for TÜBİTAK 2232 Project (Wearable Haptic Bracelet)
30 June 2022Assist. Prof. Mine SARAÇ STROPPA from the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Kadir Has University is looking for graduate students (two master’s level, two doctorate level, and one post-doctorate level) as paid research scholars to work for up to 36 months within her TÜBİTAK 2232 research project, “Wearable Haptic Bracelet: Design and Integration for Augmented and Mixed Reality”.
The main objectives of the project are:
* Implementing a wrist-worn haptic device that will provide informative and believable force feedback to users on parallel to their interactions in the virtual environment
* Investigating the best practices of this device in terms of actuation, control, tracking, and visual feedback strategies.
* Analyzing the impact of these strategies compared to conventional or previously developed haptic scenarios.
The main tasks of the students will include:
* Updating the literature review (human-machine interaction, haptic devices, wrist-worn haptic devices)
* Designing and controlling a wearable robotic device
* Designing a virtual environment to perform interaction and manipulation tasks
* Conducting human subject experiments – participation observation and data collection
* Interpreting statistical data and creating tables and graphics
* Participating in project meetings, contributing to writing project reports, and writing academic papers.
Students should be fluent in English and have an educational/training background and/or research experience in at least one of these fields: robotics, control systems, mechanical design, programming, human-machine interaction, actuation systems, or virtual reality. Early researchers who would like to develop their dissertations on top of this project are encouraged to apply. Experience in conducting human subject experiments is an advantage.
If interested, please send your CV to mine.sarac@khas.edu.tr by August 1.
